Shepherds College is the country's leading three-year post-secondary educational program for students with intellectual disabilities. There are very few resources of this kind in the nation, and we are a unique and important option for students looking to take the next step in their education.
But Shepherds College is so much more than just a school for students with intellectual disabilities. It's a safe-haven where they can come and feel comfortable while learning new and exciting things. And the types of things taught here are designed to prepare students for a life career and develop skills that will help them through everyday situations.
Academics are an important part of Shepherds College, but leading a spiritual life is another one of our main focuses. We believe that everyone is uniquely created by God for a purpose and that each person in this world deserves a chance to fulfill lifetime goals and dreams. We want to see our students succeed because we understand how truly important success is for each and every one of us.
Shepherds’ true mission is to glorify Jesus Christ by supporting people with intellectual disabilities to reach their potential. This can be achieved through the combination of life skills development, in-depth training in a specialty vocation and supported independent living on campus. Shepherds College wants to prepare young adults with intellectual disabilities to achieve Appropriate Independence™ – a level of self-sufficiency that is aligned with individual strengths and guided by Christian values. The Shepherds College program strives to uniquely integrate the complete spectrum of skills needed to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities to grow to their full potential.
